By resolution of the Chief State Sanitary Inspector of the Russian Federation, the boundaries of the sanitary protection zone of OJSC KAMAZ’s industrial hub in Naberezhnye Chelny were finally determined.
The sanitary protection zone (SPZ) is a special area around industrial facilities that have an impact on the environment and human health. The SPZ enables to reduce chemical, biological and physical pollution of the air to the levels prescribed by hygienic regulations. The zone surrounds KAMAZ’s all major production units and a number of the company’s joint ventures. Depending on the type of a facility, the area of the sanitary protection zone ranges from 100 to 780 meters.
Such a zone will primarily help reduce negative environmental effects and meet European environmental standards and requirements of the Russian legislation.
