Yesterday, the KAMAZ-master team returning to their hometown from South America after the triumphant victory at the Dakar-2015 rally-marathon was welcomed at the Begishevo international airport.
Sergey Kogogin, General Director of OJSC KAMAZ, hit the mark saying that the most sincere welcome is always in a home city. “I know that the guys were waiting for this moment. There can’t be such a warm welcome like at home anywhere else,” he said speaking to the winners. “You brought your victory to our city, our company. You are our pride and real heroes.”
Nail Magdeev, for the first time as the mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny, welcomed the drivers. “They say the way you spend New Year’s Eve is the way you will spend the rest of the year. Therefore the victory of the KAMAZ-master team in the history of the country, the republic and the city of Naberezhnye Chelny is significant,” he said. “You proved once again that KAMAZ can do anything. The teams of Mercedes, MAN, MAZ, IVECO – none of them managed to win first place which constantly goes to KAMAZ.”
Naberezhnye Chelny was rejoicing. The renovated Begishevo airport was a decent venue for the welcome of the winners. However, gold, silver and bronze “Bedouins” in the Dakar winners’ hands were the center of attention. The welcomers chanted in unison, “Well done! Congratulations!” And the champions seemed to forget about the intercontinental flight and the fatigue accumulated for the two weeks of the race.
“We tried our best. Every day, every kilometer, every effort the guys thought about the victory. Because they knew you were waiting for it,” the words of the head of KAMAZ-master Vladimir Chagin rang already calm and confident, the first stir of excitement over the victory has already passed to give place to inevitable communication with the press and official meetings. Mr. Chagin also said that he considered the Dakar victories to be an important contribution to the development of the whole KAMAZ. The participation in the race makes the brand recognizable, and throughout the marathon people showed an interest in the vehicles and asked for dealers’ contacts. The head of KAMAZ-master expressed hope that their victories would be an incentive to boost sales in Latin America and other countries, and, of course, in Russia. These words were supported by the welcomers’ chorus of “Hurrah!”.
